The type of heating elements known as
“CARTRIDGE” heaters,
define a heating element consisting of nichrome wire, immersed in a
substance called magnesium oxide necessary for heat exchange, all
inserted and protected by a steel metal cylinder. They can be of
various lengths and diameters, with different types of protection
for the relevant cable outlets. One of the most important
features of cartridge heaters is the possibility of making them in
two different types of construction, called
HIGH DENSITY -
LOW DENSITY
respectively. The first type (high density) includes all those
high-performance cartridge heaters that can reach temperatures
of up to about 800°C, while in the second type (low
density), the maximum temperature range that can be reached
stops at about 450°C.
CARTRIDGE heating elements are used to heat industrial metal
moulds, but not only; we find them applied in soldering bars,
applications on devices in the textile, food, wood, and sanitary
sector as towel heaters, and many other fields in the manufacturing
industry.
